 SOIN Focuses on Community and Culture      

Learning is not purely academic, it is social and emotional as well. We agree with experts who say promoting self image and community identification is important in the learning process.     

SOIN’s software approach is to create a secure online school community reinforcing cultural identity. In other words, users visually log into their school’s online community space and immediately recognize the school website colors and logos. Their accounts hold information specific to their role in the school system and provide relevant information that is easy to access.    

 SOIN Features have a Personal Touch     

SOIN’s features have been built form the ground up straight from our educators’ desks. You will notice nuances in our offerings that show our close connection with our teachers and administrators, including “Stickers” for the grade book such as a Gold Star for a “job well done,” a test conflict calendar and assignment review process for admins to control testing dates and rigor level and a Birthday Notification feature to ensure educators can easily remember and send wishes for students’ birthdays.     

Features like these increase SOIN’s chance for sustainability and faculty “buy in.”  

 Development and Customization     

Because SOIN has been built by our own development house, data flows seamlessly from one module to another and enhancements, features and customizations are easily managed.  SOIN’s flexible, relational architecture allows for high levels of customization. Many custom features are controlled based on system level parameters.The key is that we have complete developmental control on all aspects of the software so there are no surprises when you want to build on top of our existing system.     

Another possibility for expansion is the use of secure web services which would allow authorized applications to securely access real-time data. 

 Data Setup, Management and Integration with other systems     

SOIN completes the initial data migration for the school based on our required data fields. Then management of data – demographics, class data, etc, can be handled in the school by anyone, regardless of their tech background.SOIN can be integrated with other systems. For example, we have integrated our product with Google Apps for Education for schools who elect to go Google.  We integrated API’s for Single-Sign-On and Contacts functionality enjoyed by many of our schools.     

Other Strategic Alliances   

We want to bring not just our software but also cost effective hardware to help support our endeavors:RK Solutions, LLC, the entity that owns the right to license the Schools-On-I-Net product, is also an N-Computing Partner as well as a reseller for D and H Distributors.     

We have a vendor ID for NYC schools and can be found on the FAMIS website.  We have had two years of development time inside a NYC public school to tailor our product to the data-driven needs of an urban market and are ready to move forward in 2010 with rolling out even more unique features for our public school clients.
We are also currently working with a major international university’s graduate school program on a collaboration for providing aggregate student data for analysis of trends in education.
