Schools-On-I-Net, Our School Districts and Jewish Day Schools
Schools-On-I-Net has been created from the ground up, hand in hand with educators in the yeshiva world. Having customized product that handles a niche market’s specific needs, we have developed a solution that can adapt to virtually any school’s way of working. Our distinguishing features include: dual curriculum academics, Multi language text support (including Hebrew, French, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, etc) in all modules, a test conflict calendar to avoid overbooking tests on a particular day, an administrative review for approving tests and lessons before they are published and more. It is a sophisticated solution for education communities. Because of our ability to customize the product and our support, schools find in SOIN a unique boutique software experience with personal services giving them more return on their investment.
Schools-On-I-Net began working with Yavneh Academy in 2003. Working closely with Mrs. Chani Lichtiger, Director of Technology and various administrators, office staff and teachers, Schools-On-I-Net grew from a “parent portal” software into a comprehensive administrative program for Jewish day schools, accommodating a dual curriculum academic program as well as having a family system for managing student information.
Yeshivah of Flatbushfound SOIN in a search for a website company. In our initial meeting, the executive office and lay leadership visualized the power of Schools-On-I-Net as more than a brochure website and parent portal, but as a school management system. YOF utilized SOIN as both an academic and communications system, but also as a development house for custom features and enhancements as well as requesting features that would benefit our entire family of schools. YOF today has completed its migration of 4 WinSchool servers to once centralized SOIN system and uses SOIN in all grades from N – 12 for demographics, academics, lesson planning, calendaring, photo galleries, forms, report cards, transcripts, conduct management, reports and more.
Gerrard Berman Day Schoolwas the first Solomon Schechter Day School to sign up with Schools-On-I-Net. Like Yeshivah of Flatbush, Gerrard Berman was looking for a website company. What they found was a way to manage lesson plans, parent teacher conferences and more using the SOIN system.
Margolin Hebrew Academy Feinstone Yeshiva of the South found SOIN at a PEJE conference in Boston, MA. From Margolin, SOIN was customized to accommodate a school with multiple divisions – two middle schools and two high schools (one for boys and one for girls). Along the way many nuances have been added to SOIN by working closely one of the principals of the school. Margolin too utilizes SOIN for grades K – 12.
Seattle Hebrew Academyalso found SOIN at a PEJE conference. They use SOIN internally for attendance and report cards. Since the project begain, the attendance and report cards were managed entirely on site.
North Shore Hebrew Academywanted to “get digital” by providing teachers with useful and user friendly tools for their staff to work in the online world their students thrive in. It was also a wayfor the school to offer more to the parent body, to replace some of its existing systems, and to find a solution that would bring two campuses together in one system, online. They found just that and more in SOIN. SOIN replaced the middle school’s academic system for class lists, class schedules, demographics, academics, report cards and transcripts in its first year, boasting the ability to create reports that the old system would not allow, as well as providing an easier more efficient way to complete report cards online. Teachers welcomed the new report card system. The lower school joined the online report card system after its success in the middle school. Today, the Dean’s messages, report card awards, and staff messages are delivered using Schools-On-I-Net.
Krieger Schechter Day School was looking for a replacement for its online student information system; KSDS wanted a system that understood their needs as a Jewish Day School and also one that would be able to customize certain features for the way they did things. Krieger signed up with SOIN last year and was able to migrate its prior online student information system AS WELL AS its main email system to Schools-On-I-Net using Google Apps for Education Gmail. KSDS worked with SOIN on a custom attendance module; has successfully generated report cards as well as progress reports, uses the SOIN grade book in the middle school as well as many communications modules all in its first year.
Bornblum Solomon Schechter School in Memphis, TN. In an accreditation review at Margolin Hebrew Academy, a parent at BSSS Memphis was impressed with the use of online school management with Schools-On-I-Net and made the connection with BSSS’ executive director. BSSS came on board that same year and now utilizes SOIN for all academic and communications needs. Margolin was consequently given an affiliate referral award.
Torah Day School of Houston in Houston, TX wanted a way to manage report cards through a solution that was more flexible and that would give them more support than the software awarded to them through the Chabad network. The executive director found SOIN and launched and managed the report cards in their first year. TDS Houston continues to expand their use of SOIN with other academic modules.
Barkai Yeshiva in Brooklyn, NY was determined to put their Parent Teacher Conferences online this fall (2009) and completed a rigorous evaluation of Parent Teacher Conference Reservation Systems. Within one week, they selected SOIN to become their technology partner, with the opportunity to expand with SOIN’s other offerings in the future. Barkai completed its PTC Scheduling online with SOIN this fall and was happy with the performance and support they received.
Manhattan Day School wanted a program to better handle its Report Card process. A friend of SOIN’s met with the member of the MDS staff over the summer of 2009 at a casual weekend outing. When brought to the school’s attention, their immediate reaction was that they already have several systems in place…but an education consultant advised the school to explore existing technologies for learning what other schools are doing or using. After a presentation to key leaders, it was decided that SOIN would be utilized for Report Cards starting fall of 2009, with the opportunity to consolidate several other systems over the course of the next year. Manhattan Day School completed its online report cards using SOIN in both the Middle and Elementary Schools with teachers complimenting the switch to a system that addressed the weaknesses of the system before making it easier for them to complete report cards from home or school.
Summit Questa Montessori School in Davies, Fl found Schools-On-I-Net through an internet search for teacher grade books. After evaluating other online grade book programs, they chose SOIN for its ability to give them a 360 degree view of grades, reports and enotifications. They were specifically interested in being able to setup their own default grading profile for teachers to use. Teachers took to the grade book much more easily than the administration had imagined and sooner than expected, they were able to roll out SOIN to students as well.
